Caffè Frozen was one of the most interesting of the Pastry Events at SIGEP 2013 (International Artisanal Ice Cream, Pastry and Bread Show).

Presided over by Iginio Massari and judged by a jury of prestigious journalists in the sector, the event involved a competition among ten teams, each composed of a professional Italian barista and a team of pastry-makers from various countries. First, each team of pastry-makers created its own interpretation of dulce de leche ice cream. Then, each barista prepared the Hausbrandt (technical sponsor of the event) single origin coffee that he or she felt best complemented the recipe. The Italian winner Emilio Repetti, who was paired with the Singapore team, used INDIA SPICY POWDER to win the award from Hausbrandt.

The Caffè Frozen competition featured the following single origin Hausbrandt coffees: Santos Frozen NY2 Brazil, Ethiopia Sidamo, Kenya AA, Guatemala Althea, Costarica Brisamar and India Spicy Powder. The coffees were presented in a special tin that was created especially for the event. Caffè Frozen, which was hosted by Andrea Lattuada, the international judge of the WBC, along with Michela Furlan, representing Hausbrandt, created an interesting opportunity for international participants to meet and highlighted Hausbrandt’s continued interest in the sophisticated world of pastry-making.
