Donna con tazzina stile Liberty

For the city of Graz, Trieste is not just any city, but rather a place with which it shares many historical and cultural ties. In fact, this year the two cities are celebrating 40 years as sister cities, providing a splendid opportunity to hold a rich programme of events focusing on art, culture, food and wine, scheduled for 23 to 28 September.

The star of the important exhibition “The Historic Cafés of Trieste” at the Grand Cafe Kaiserfeld (curated by Andrea Gilli) could, of course, be none other than Hausbrandt, the historic coffee roasting company founded in Trieste in 1892, currently managed by the Zanetti family.

The tale of Trieste as a city of coffee and coffee roasting unfolds in a series of images selected by the historic company Hausbrandt. The numerous historical cafes in Trieste were meeting places and literary haunts that became an Italian cultural institution. In this exhibition, the cafes appear in all of the charm of yesteryear, evoking their incomparable allure.

Thanks to the materials provided by Hausbrandt, the animated atmosphere of the Fin de Siecle and Art Nouveau periods lives again in a collection of images that is warm and exhilarating, like the finest coffee.
