1. Accessibility Requirements and Applicable Criteria
Digital accessibility requirements are defined by Legislative Decree No. 82 of 27 May 2022 “Implementation of Directive (EU) 2019/882 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 17 April 2019 on the accessibility requirements for products and services”, which, for technical aspects, refers to the UNI EN 301549 standard.
Specifically, website compliance must be assessed against the criteria set out in Chapter 9 “Web” and Chapter 10 “Non-web Documents”. These chapters incorporate the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at Level A and AA.
The four core principles of digital accessibility under WCAG 2.1 are:
- Perceivable – Information and user interface components must be presented in ways users can perceive.
- Operable – User interface components and navigation must be operable by all users.
- Understandable – Information and operation of the interface must be understandable.
- Robust – The website is compatible with the most common assistive technologies.
In accordance with UNI EN 301549, which defines 50 success criteria for website accessibility assessment, technical analyses have been carried out on the website’s content, including textual and non-textual information, downloadable documents and forms, and bidirectional interaction processes such as digital form submission, authentication, identification, and payment processes.
Of the 50 success criteria set out by applicable technical standards, the following is considered not applicable to this website:
● 1.2.4 Captions (Live)
Article 1, paragraph 5 of Legislative Decree No. 82/2022 states that the provisions of the Decree do not apply to the following website and mobile application content:
- pre-recorded time-based media published before 28 June 2025;
- office file formats published before 28 June 2025;
- online maps and mapping services, provided that, for maps intended for navigation, essential information is made available in an accessible digital format;
- third-party content that is neither funded nor developed by the economic operator concerned, nor under its control;
- website and mobile application content considered as archives, meaning that they contain only content that has not been updated or revised after 28 June 2025.

4. Compliance with Accessibility Requirements
Hausbrandt Trieste 1892 S.p.A. engaged an independent digital accessibility expert to conduct a technical compliance audit of the website. Following the audit, a report was issued outlining corrective actions and improvements required to achieve compliance.
The accessibility features considered for the website and available to users include, but are not limited to, the following:
● Compatibility with assistive technologies (e.g., NVDA, JAWS)
● Keyboard navigation
● Adequate colour contrast
● Text alternatives for graphic and multimedia content
● Zoom and text resizing
● Subtitles for multimedia content and text transcripts
● Animation control and reduction of non-essential motion
● Forms and input fields with clear labels to facilitate interaction
Accessibility of web content for users who rely on assistive technologies, such as screen readers, alternative keyboards, or voice commands, is also supported by the presence of ARIA attributes. These attributes help describe the role, state, and properties of user interface elements, communicate dynamic interactions (e.g., expandable menus, modals, sliders) to screen readers, and support keyboard navigation within complex components.
To further enhance accessibility and the overall user experience, a widget (UserWay PRO) has been integrated into the website. Its use by website users is completely free of charge and helps improve the site’s compliance with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG 2.1).
UserWay PRO provides multiple features to improve website accessibility and user experience through a dedicated panel accessible by clicking the widget icon or via the keyboard shortcut CTRL+U, as listed below:
- Screen Reader: reads all page content aloud without requiring the installation of an external screen reader.
- Dictionary: allows users to consult dictionaries without leaving the website. Particularly useful for individuals with cognitive disabilities, non-native English speakers, and others.
- Larger Text: increases on-screen text size with four different enlargement levels, making every part of the site immediately more readable.
- Saturation: adjusts the colour intensity of the site to high, low, or grayscale.
- Contrast: inverts the website’s colours or switches between light and dark contrast modes.
- Smart Contrast: ensures that all website colours are fully compliant with ADA standards, providing improved content visibility.
- Highlight Links: emphasizes links, buttons, and other interactive and clickable elements using bright, high-contrast colours, making them easier to identify and enhancing usability, navigation, and overall accessibility.
- Pause Animations: pauses content that moves or updates automatically and may represent an accessibility barrier; stops distracting animations and flashing content that may trigger seizures in individuals at risk.
- Text Spacing: modifies text and line spacing to improve readability for users with dyslexia and low vision, offering three levels of adjustment for a personalized and more accessible reading experience.
- Line Height: increases line spacing to ensure more comfortable readability of all on-site text.
- Text Alignment: aligns website text to the left, right, or centre to provide a personalized and more accessible reading experience.
- Dyslexia-Friendly Font: the “UserWay Dyslexia Friendly” font enhances readability and offers a simpler, smoother reading experience for visitors with dyslexia.
- Large Cursor: increases the standard cursor size by 400% so that the pointer is always visible, enabling faster and more accessible navigation through hyperlinks, tabs, and form elements.
- Tooltips: displays alternative text and ARIA labels for on-screen elements with a simple mouse hover. Tooltips are clearly visible, high-contrast, and easy to read for users with low vision and accessibility needs.
- Page Structure: quickly reveals page headings, landmarks, and links in a clear, structured, easily navigable, and accessible manner, helping both disabled and non-disabled users find desired content more quickly.
In addition to the features that users can activate through the accessibility menu, the UserWay PRO widget is capable of detecting numerous non-compliances on the site and performing the necessary corrections in real time, without modifying the source code but only what the browser displays on screen. This allows the website to be more usable for all end users, including those who rely on assistive technologies.
To determine the website’s compliance status, the guidelines and assessment checklist prepared by AgID were used. The technical assessment carried out by an accessibility expert consultant expressed the following status, referring to the date of drafting or updating this notice.

- some elements include non-permitted attributes;
- some form fields lack descriptive text;
- some pages do not include a title element;

Hausbrandt Trieste 1892 S.p.A. intends to periodically evaluate the performance of technical audits to monitor website accessibility over time, potentially with the involvement of third-party specialists in digital accessibility, in order to implement improvements also based on user suggestions.
Technical audits are conducted by an external consultant specialized in accessibility, who uses technological tools that are continuously updated in line with current regulations to reassess compliance status in various ways: through semi-automated code checks, manual user testing, and the use of assistive technologies.
